What it's about

This short tour dives into the history of Hamburg's municipal waterworks – among original exhibits and elaborate fountain models, visitors learn how Elbe water became clean drinking water, what the valve houses were for, and what the ice saws were used for.

The tour is rounded off with a short film on the history of water – a compact introduction offered twice daily at 11:30am and 4:15pm.

The tour takes place in the Stadt.Wasser.Kunst exhibition at Wasserkunst Elbinsel Kaltehofe, a former waterworks with filter basins and natural grounds on the edge of the city.
