The tour takes visitors on a journey through the history of the Kaltehofe waterworks: alongside the function of the filter basins and valve houses, it covers how Hamburg's water supply has changed over time.

The tour ends at the Stadt.Wasser.Kunst exhibition in the Kubus, where further exhibits on the history of water are on display.

Wasserkunst Elbinsel Kaltehofe combines an industrial heritage site, a nature park, and an exhibition: along the discovery trails between the old filter basins, you can also spot wildlife such as grey herons, swans, and beavers.
