At Planetarium Hamburg, families can dive into starry skies, galaxies and planetary worlds under a large dome. Children's shows such as 'Kleiner Stern im großen All' for the youngest or 'Eddie will ins All' for ages six and up run under an hour, are child-friendly in language and length, and combine entertainment with real facts. Live presentations with a host cover current events in the sky.
The program ranges from classic astronomy such as 'Unterwegs in der Milchstraße' and live shows such as 'Sternenhimmel über Hamburg' to music evenings and Cosmic Opera. Frequent visitors will find the Planetenpass worthwhile. Café Schmidtchen on the roof of the tower offers a view over the Stadtpark.
The building is closed on Mondays and otherwise open until the evening. Take the U-Bahn to Borgweg plus a short walk through the Stadtpark; it combines well with a playground or paddling pool. For children's birthdays there are packages with shows and behind-the-scenes looks.
