What it's about
James, a curious penguin from the South Pole, goes on a world trip and meets the polar bear Vladimir at the North Pole. The two become friends and tell each other about their homes, the eternal ice of Antarctica and the Arctic. Together they look up at the sky under the starry dome and wonder why the polar nights at the South and North Poles are so different.
The kids' show combines a warm-hearted friendship story with astronomical facts about constellations and the different polar nights. Under the planetarium's big dome the starry sky is especially impressive, and the show is kept child-friendly in language and length.
Planetarium Hamburg is in the middle of the Stadtpark and easy to reach from the Borgweg subway station. A walk through the park is a nice follow-up to the show.
