Good to know

At the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe, children can draw, print or experiment with materials in family workshops, and join child-friendly tours through changing exhibitions. Highlights of the collection include Verner Panton's shimmering Spiegel-Kantine, the faithfully furnished Pariser Saal from around 1900, and the quirky full-body dance masks by Lavinia Schulz and Walter Holdt.

The collection spans some 9,000 years of design, from antiquity to the present, plus fashion, photography and graphic art. Special formats like Japanese tea ceremonies round out the program. For families, it's best to target individual departments or a special exhibition rather than trying to see everything.

The Freiraum is a freely accessible zone for browsing and resting, handy for breaks during the tour. The museum places value on accessibility, with offerings in sign language and easy language. Located at Steintorplatz, directly across from the main station.
