At the Museum der Natur, children can look at and compare specimens of big cats, bears, birds, reptiles and marine animals from every continent in thematically arranged display cases. In the Tiger Lounge, visitors can take a break on seating around the big cats, observe them and ask questions. The event area regularly hosts tours and activities for young visitors.
The institution belongs to the Leibniz Institute for the Analysis of Biodiversity Change and shows a small slice of its more than ten million collection objects. The labels are well-grounded but kept accessible enough that children can understand a lot too. Suitable from about age four, with more depth for older children interested in biology and evolution.
The museum is located on the University of Hamburg campus and is easy to reach by public transport. Plan one to two hours for a relaxed museum afternoon.
