What it's about

20 years of Experimental Archaeology at the University of Hamburg. That flint-tipped arrows were used for hunting in the Stone Age is proven by many finds and clear to many people today. But how were these arrowheads made? What tools do you need to work them? For more than 20 years, the University of Hamburg's Prehistoric Archaeology department has also been practising experimental archaeology. Some of these experiments take place with and on the grounds of the Steinzeitpark Dithmarschen in Albersdorf. In the exhibition, students and lecturers present selected results from seminars since 2004. Archaeology studies human history through material remains. To reconstruct how people lived, it does not limit itself to excavations but also asks how all these finds came about. Since these methods have not been handed down, students try, using archaeological finds and findings, to understand through experiments and trials how work was done in the past. The trials are made as reproducible as possible
