What it's about
On the two-hour farm animal safari across BioGut Bauck in the Lüneburg Heath, families meet over 60 farm animal breeds from around the world, including prairie bison, water buffalo, steppe horses, yaks, llamas, zebus and Père David's deer. At the petting meadow, kids get right up close to the animals, including the farm's wolfhounds.
Instead of a classic zoo atmosphere, the farm shows the role these animals play in agriculture. The experience is wheelchair accessible. Booking is required, as safaris run at fixed times. Especially worthwhile for animal-loving families who enjoy wide open countryside.
The farm is in the Lüneburg Heath south of Hamburg; the drive mostly runs along the A7.
