What it's about
Hamburg's mobile juice press makes a stop at Loki-Schmidt-Garten: if you've got a big haul of apples, you can have them pressed on the spot and take the finished juice home – for 7 euros per 5-liter box. According to the organizers, pressing your own batch with pasteurization only pays off from about 50 to 75 kilograms of apples.
For families with an apple tree in their own garden, this is a handy way to put the harvest to good use instead of letting it go to waste. Access is via Hesten street and the depot yard, following the signs – dogs are not allowed in the garden.
Loki-Schmidt-Garten, the University of Hamburg's Botanical Garden in Klein Flottbek, is open daily from 9am, and admission is free.
And tomorrow? It's in the app.
The weekend and the holidays, too. Two weeks free.
