What it's about
Grandma Liese lives alone and lonely. Every day is grey and dull, even at Christmas. But not this year! First something flies through the window, then there's a knock at the door – and suddenly everything turns colorful and topsy-turvy. A clownish, poetic play that celebrates Christmas and shows how good life can be when you have friends.
The piece is based on the picture book The Visit by Antje Damm and is performed on the HoheLuftschiff – a boat on the Kaiser-Friedrich-Ufer that serves as both stage and auditorium. Puppet theater, live music and plenty of imagination shape the production, and the water occasionally slaps audibly against the hull during the show.
The subway stations Hoheluftbrücke and Christuskirche are nearby, and a walk along the Isebekkanal makes a nice addition before or after the show.
