What it's about

At Open Ship, visitors come aboard the ELBE 3 (built in 1888), the oldest still-seaworthy lightship and a maritime monument and traditional vessel. Guided tours let you explore the historic ship, and there is coffee, cake, and drinks as well as an amateur radio station with the call sign DA0LE.

For families, this is a vivid, hands-on excursion into Hamburg's maritime history. Important note: due to its construction, the ship is not suitable for people with disabilities in all cases – it's best to arrange access in advance with the crew.

The ELBE 3 lies in the Museum Harbor Oevelgönne on the banks of the Elbe, an atmospheric spot for a walk along the water.

And tomorrow? It's in the app.

The weekend and the holidays, too. Two weeks free.
