Good to know
Museumshafen Oevelgönne is a living open-air museum at the Neumühlen ferry landing, right on the Elbe. Founded in 1976, the association maintains a fleet of historic steamers, sailing ships, and working vessels that can be viewed from the landing stage at any time, free of charge — with no barriers, following the motto: look, ask, touch, join in. During open-ship events, families can go on board for free; the lightship 'Elbe 3' opens on Wednesdays from 10am, and rides are possible on some ships. An audio guide with 19 stations (about 45 minutes) tells the ships' stories, and tours are available by arrangement. There's also a museum café on an old harbor ferry and a visitor center on the floating pontoon.
