Wilhelmsburger Wintermärchen (Theaterbox) with kids

Theaterbox Hamburg is an independent artists' collective that has developed a professional children's play every year since 2009, the Wilhelmsburger Wintermärchen. It is performed at the Honigfabrik cultural center, Industriestraße 125-131 in Wilhelmsburg, each year for around 500 pupils from the district as well as families from all over Hamburg.

Children from Wilhelmsburg schools and daycare centers contribute their own ideas to the plays through workshops and rehearsal visits. The current play "Prinz Eile" tells of a stressed-out prince who discovers his imagination in the Land of Boredom, and runs about 40 minutes. Admission is 4 euros for children and 6 euros for adults; tickets are reserved by email.

On weekdays there are school performances at 9 and 11 am; for families there was most recently a performance on Saturday at 3 pm. The new Wintermärchen 2026 on the theme of consumption premieres on December 12, with school performances following from December 14 to 18 at the Honigfabrik. The second venue, since 2020, is the Alte Drahtmühle in Grönwohld.
