Good to know
At Wildpark Lüneburger Heide, children can observe deer, wild boar, wolves, lynx, and bison in spacious enclosures, and watch the daily feedings and the birds-of-prey flight show. Donkeys, llamas, alpacas, rabbits, and goats can be experienced up close in the petting area, along with owls, raccoons, and ferrets. Kids can burn off energy on large playgrounds between stops.
The park is especially worthwhile for families with children between four and twelve, since many animals can be touched and the shows spread throughout the day give the visit a set rhythm. On the same grounds is the Heide Himmel treetop path, which can be added via combination ticket. During school holidays there are extra hands-on programs and guided tours.
The park is open year-round; half a day to a full day is enough for a visit. Access via the A7 to Garlstorf, with parking right at the entrance. Sturdy shoes and weatherproof clothing are a good idea, since many paths run over forest ground.
