Good to know
At the Töpferstube, children ages 5 to 14 shape figures, bowls, jewelry, or small sculptures under the guidance of ceramicists. They model and paint their own pieces, which are then glazed, fired, and can be picked up a few days later.
The offering is open: no registration, no cost, donations welcome. That makes the Töpferstube one of the few low-threshold creative stops for children in central Hamburg, especially popular with families from St. Pauli, Neustadt, and Sternschanze. It's located in a small pavilion in the Großen Wallanlagen right next to the mini-golf course, where it has operated since 1985.
Usually open from early June to late August, Tuesday to Friday afternoons. Last admission one hour before closing. Easiest access via U-Bahn Messehallen or St. Pauli; mini-golf, meadows, and water play are available nearby in Planten un Blomen.
