On the Theaterschiff Batavia, families can see a dedicated children's theater program with classics such as Pippi Longstocking or Oh, How Beautiful Is Panama. The plays are mostly aimed at children aged three or four and up and last about an hour. Children board via a gangway, the hall is compact, and everyone sits up close.
The Batavia is a converted former cargo ship and has been a private theater for over 50 years. Besides children's theater there are evening performances of comedies and boulevard plays. The restaurant is open year-round and serves North German dishes, matjes herring, labskaus, tarte flambée and children's portions, plus a beer garden with a view of the old harbor in summer.
Opening hours are Wednesday to Saturday from 5 pm and Sundays from 2:30 pm. Arrive by S-Bahn to Wedel plus a short walk; parking is nearby. It combines well with a walk along the Elbe or to the Schulauer Fährhaus.
