Good to know

On the Gojenberg in Bergedorf, the University of Hamburg has been exploring the sky for over a hundred years — and families can stroll right through the middle of it: the Hamburg Observatory park is open daily from 7am to 10pm. Anyone wanting to enter the historic domes and see the large telescopes should come to the public tour on Sundays at 2pm (about 90 minutes, suitable from around age 6, 10 euros or 7.50 euros reduced, no registration needed). From October to April, public observation evenings also take place on the first Wednesday of each month from 7pm. For children, birthday parties are offered through the Bergedorf museum network and the Hamburg museum service; school classes can book the 'Stars & Schools' astronomy workshop. The historic dome buildings are not wheelchair accessible.
