Good to know

At SFZ, students from grade 5 upward work in open research labs on their own questions in biology, chemistry, physics, computer science and technology. There are also multi-week courses, one-day workshops and holiday programs, depending on interest and prior knowledge. Younger students get more closely guided support, while more experienced researchers work independently on projects — often with an eye toward competitions like Jugend forscht.

For parents whose child is enthusiastic about tinkering, experimenting or programming, the SFZ is a serious framework beyond regular school lessons. It is supervised by teachers, volunteers and student assistants; all offerings are free and are explicitly aimed at young researchers regardless of school type.

Regularly open on weekday afternoons, at Grindelallee 117 near the university. Individual workshops and open days are announced on the website, some also for families and school classes.
