At Schmidt Theater, families experience musical theatre with its own Hamburg flavor — direct, warm-hearted, often tongue-in-cheek. Currently on the program: Der kleine Störtebeker, a musical pirate voyage by Martin Lingnau and Heiko Wohlgemuth about the backstory of the famous Hamburg pirate. Seven performers play, in changing roles, a boy who becomes a pirate legend while searching for a home. Recommended from age six.
The Schmidt belongs to the ensemble around Schmidts Tivoli and Schmidt Online — one of Germany's best-known private theatres, with original productions found nowhere else. During the day, the Reeperbahn is well suited to families, with Spielbudenplatz, Landungsbrücken, and the Alter Elbtunnel within walking distance.
