Good to know
At Schanzenpark, children can try out and practise circus skills like tightrope walking, juggling and acrobatics with the Schanzenzirkus, before the joint performance calls: step into the ring, all you little artists!
The open drop-in programme is aimed at children aged 3 and up, and teenagers and adults are welcome to soak up some circus atmosphere too. The project is led by circus page Victor and former water tower keeper Jörn Uhl, joined since 2026 by hula-hoop acrobat Lotte as well as other experienced artists and circus and theatre educators.
During the summer season, the circus performs every Friday afternoon under the open sky in Schanzenpark, just a few steps from the Sternschanze S-Bahn and U-Bahn station. The project is supported by the boroughs of Altona and Eimsbüttel as well as several Hamburg foundations.
