Good to know

At the Museum der Illusionen, children can balance through a tilted room where they suddenly appear giant next to their parents, walk through an infinity tunnel, and experience gravity seemingly going haywire in the vortex room. Spread across several hundred square meters are over 50 stations with holograms, mirror installations and walk-through illusions.

The museum suits families with children from about age five. Most exhibits work without reading skills; short explanations help older children understand the principle behind the illusions. Photography is encouraged, and floor markers at many stations show the best spot for a photo.

A visit takes one to two hours. Book tickets online in advance, as admission is limited. The location on Lilienstrasse near the main station makes it easy to combine with the Binnenalster or a stroll through the city center.
