Good to know

In the middle of a traffic island in Rothenburgsort stands a small brick building with a big impact: Mikropol, a roughly 50-square-meter former public toilet building, was converted by neighbors into a self-organized neighborhood center in 2019 — a place of encounter and solidarity, honored in 2022 with the Hamburg district culture prize. For families there are special moments here again and again: interactive comic readings with a workshop for children, art activities such as 'We collect trash and make art', plus exhibitions, cinema, concerts, and garden days. At the open handicrafts meetup 'Flotte Masche', people crochet together roughly every other Saturday. Most offerings are free or donation-based — it's worth stopping by on the announced dates.
