Literaturhaus Hamburg is housed in a historic townhouse on Schwanenwik, right on the Außenalster, and brings literature to life for the whole family. With the Junges Literaturhaus, there are dedicated series for children from around age 5, from philosophizing at 'Gedankenflieger' to a free city safari.

In the white villa at Schwanenwik 38, beautifully situated on the Außenalster in Uhlenhorst, Literaturhaus Hamburg has been at home since 1989. Around 150 events a year bring authors together with their audience here: readings, conversations, and literary evenings, often in the historic garden hall. Especially exciting for families is the Junges Literaturhaus, with offerings for children, teenagers, and young adults aged 5 to 25: at 'Gedankenflieger' (from age 6), participants philosophize together, 'Spaß mit Büchern' is aimed at elementary school classes, and the free 'Stadtsafari' invites children aged 9 and up on discovery tours. The house also houses a bookshop and the Literaturhaus café.
