Families can take courses in art, culture and movement for children here, visit exhibitions such as the collaboration with illustrator Maren Amini, and experience concerts, cabaret, variety shows, discussions and readings in the JoLa, the house's own event room. Workshops offer the chance to try out painting, music or movement.

The venue sees itself as a networking hub: it works with history workshops, initiatives and institutions in southern Hamburg and brings different groups into conversation. This creates a program that picks up on local themes while also appealing to guests from other neighborhoods — for example, discussion evenings about migration histories in Hamburg.

The location south of the Elbe is well connected by S-Bahn and buses. Individual areas may be closed at times due to renovations; current notices are online.
