Good to know

Families find regular family concerts here for children from about age five, storytime sessions and hands-on activities at the Bücherhalle Bergedorf, plus toy repair, craft afternoons and holiday programs. The LichtwarkTheater fills the stage with its own program of theater, music and guest performances. The open areas known as "Frei Raum" invite visitors to drop by even without a fixed program, to play, read or rest.

Under one roof are a public library, the LichtwarkTheater, adult-education classrooms and spaces for neighborhood events, run by ten organizations including the Körber Foundation, Hamburg Public Libraries and AWO. Many formats are free or affordable. The building is fully accessible — also usable for families with strollers or limited mobility.

Just a few steps from Bergedorf station, easy to combine with the Schlossgarten or Schloss Bergedorf right around the corner.
