Good to know
The Wildgehege Klövensteen lies in the middle of the 580-hectare Klövensteen forest in Rissen and belongs to the Altona district office. Families can watch native animals there such as red deer, fallow deer, mouflon, wild boar, raccoon, eagle owl and mink. Admission is deliberately free, and there is a playground at the entrance.
The adjoining forest school offers free learning sessions for school classes as well as children's birthdays for 6- to 12-year-olds with up to 12 children, for example as a treasure hunt or a birthday among the deer, from 155 euros for two hours. Downloadable rallies include the forest treasure hunt in three difficulty levels and a forest bingo.
It is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm, last admission 5:30 pm, and closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. In winter, shorter hours until 4 pm applied most recently. The address is Sandmoorweg 150, about a 25-minute walk from Rissen S-Bahn station. Dogs must be kept on a leash and feeding the animals is prohibited, but the enclosure gladly accepts collected acorns and chestnuts. Opposite the forest school is the Kleine Waldschänke.
