KanuHelden Ratsmühle with kids

At KanuHelden at the Ratsmühle, families rent kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddles and paddle downstream toward the Stadtpark or upstream into the wooded upper Alster toward the Mellingburger lock. Life jackets and a waterproof bag are included in the price, and there is a pick-up service for the return trip. Herons, swans and ducks accompany most tours.

Both directions suit families: on the upper Alster you quickly find yourself in quiet nature, while toward the Stadtparksee an urban backdrop of meadows, bridges and a view of the Planetarium opens up. For smaller children, canoes are often the best choice because they are stable and parents can steer while the children paddle along or watch the water world.

Open Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 10 am to 6 pm. The station can be reached by S-Bahn to Ohlsdorf plus a short walk, or by bike.
