Good to know
At Kampnagel, families can experience dance, performance, theater, and concerts for young audiences. The Junges Publikum series and the Klangfest festival are aimed specifically at children and teenagers, and the regular program regularly features pieces and concerts for children from around age six. The beer garden and outdoor area can also be used without a ticket.
The program is more experimental and international than at classic municipal theaters, often with a political or social focus. The International Summer Festival draws audiences from across Europe over several weeks. Individual performances are accompanied by sign language or audio description, and access is barrier-free.
The former crane factory on Jarrestrasse, with its brick buildings and old crane tracks, makes the site itself worth a visit. The nearest U-Bahn stations are Borgweg and Hamburger Strasse.
