Good to know
On the Grosse Buehne of Junges SchauSpielHaus, children from about age ten can see well-known book adaptations like Momo by Michael Ende in original stage versions. The productions are professionally staged with a permanent ensemble and orchestra and usually run one to two hours. Alongside classics, the program features contemporary texts that engage with current issues facing children and teenagers.
The theater's own building in Barmbek-Nord offers space for large-scale productions and, unlike the smaller stage in the main building, is aimed especially at elementary and secondary school audiences. There are public afternoon and evening performances as well as school class sessions in the morning. Educational materials on the plays are available on request.
The theater is reachable via the Barmbek or Saarlandstrasse U-Bahn stations. Stadtpark and the Museum der Arbeit are nearby, making a longer family day possible.
