Good to know

At Jenisch Haus, families can explore the park and villa together on roughly one-hour public tours. The Parkomania permanent exhibition tells the story of the surrounding Jenischpark, from Caspar Voght's model estate and Jenisch's neoclassical garden art to colonial entanglements and present-day nature conservation. The interiors, with their original preserved halls, are well suited for talking with children about how people lived in the past.

The neoclassical villa was built around 1830 as a country residence for Hamburg senator Martin Johan Jenisch; the architecture is by Forsmann and Schinkel. It belongs to the Stiftung Historische Museen Hamburg and houses a collection on 19th-century bourgeois living and garden culture. Temporary exhibitions round out the program.

Around the house, meadows, old stands of trees, and the Loki-Schmidt-Garten invite you to stay longer, with a picnic on sunny days. S-Bahn Klein Flottbek plus a walk through the park.
