Hauptkirche St. Petri stands in the middle of Hamburg's old town on Mönckebergstraße. For families, the Petriturm tower is a special experience: 544 steps lead to the top, with views opening up over the city from as low as 123 meters, with stops along the way featuring bells and tower clocks. The climb is possible Monday to Friday from 10am to 5:30pm, and on weekends from 11:30am to 4:30pm; the family ticket costs 12 euros, and children up to age 5 climb for free. The church itself is open daily, with church tours, regular concerts such as the Hour of Church Music, and a café with a shop.
