Hauptkirche St. Katharinen with kids

Directly opposite the Speicherstadt stands Hauptkirche St. Katharinen, one of Hamburg's principal churches. It's open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sunday from 11am to 5pm; admission is free. Public tower tours are offered on Saturdays (11am to 12:30pm, 7 euros for adults, free for children, no registration needed); church and vault tours are available on request. For children and families there's the Katharinakunterbunt program, a children's and youth choir for ages 4 to 14 (jointly with St. Petri), plus a daycare, school, and after-school care. Added to this is a diverse cultural program with cantata concerts, midday organ music (Wednesdays at 12:30pm), exhibitions, readings, and theater.
