At the Hamburg State Opera, families can experience children's concerts, age-appropriate opera productions, ballet evenings, and family tours. Some pieces are specifically designed for young audiences and shortened to be easy to follow. Under the CLICK in label, there are educational programs for various age groups: backstage tours, workshop visits, and sponsor classes where children learn about stage technology and rehearsal work.
The house is one of Germany's leading opera houses and hosts three companies under one roof: the opera, the internationally renowned Hamburg Ballet, and the Philharmonic State Orchestra. The stalls and tiers seat around 1,700 spectators, and the newly redesigned foyer features, among other things, the large-format floor painting Potential.
The location near Dammtor is very well connected by U- and S-Bahn as well as buses, and a walk through Planten un Blomen pairs well with a visit.
