Good to know
Hamburger Tierschutzverein von 1841 e.V. runs the animal shelter at Neue Süderstraße 25 in Hamburg-Hamm. The grounds are open to visitors Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1 to 3pm and Sunday from 9:30 to 11:30am (last admission 30 minutes before closing). A highlight for young visitors is KinderSonntag on the first Sunday of every month from 10am to 12pm: children learn, craft, and draw around exciting animal topics, no registration needed. The association also offers tours of the shelter grounds for school classes and children's groups, animal welfare lessons in daycare centers and schools, and an animal welfare youth group.
