Gärtnerei Sannmann with kids

On the small pick-your-own field right by the Gärtnerei Sannmann farm, children pick their own strawberries and take along whatever else is ripe: depending on the season, rhubarb, currants, kohlrabi, carrots, herbs or flowers.

The farm is Demeter-certified, and the strawberry varieties are specially chosen for picking yourself and grown without chemical treatment. The harvest shifts through the year: in summer, colorful tomatoes and Mediterranean vegetables are added, in autumn pumpkins and cabbage, so the farm is worth a visit across several seasons.

The field lies in the Vier- und Marschlande in Hamburg's southeast. Bringing your own containers to collect in is welcome, and for a little break there's an espresso bar on site with ice cream and pizza.
