Good to know
Rieck Haus on Curslacker Deich is one of the oldest surviving farmhouses in northern Germany and shows how two to three generations of a farming family once lived together under one large roof, along with farmhands and livestock. The grounds feature a water-powered mill, grain store, bakehouse, pigsty, a show garden, and a small playground. A bilingual permanent exhibition tells the cultural history of the Vier- und Marschlande region in High German and Low German, and interactive hands-on stations invite children to try things out. Family days, a strawberry festival, and craft days make a visit special. Open March to October, Tuesday to Sunday from 11:30am to 5pm — children and teenagers under 18 get in free.
