Good to know
In Kaistudio 6, children from around age eight can record their own sounds in family workshops, edit them, and put them together into small pieces. There are instruments to try, equipment for sound experiments, and room to move around. In creative workshops with tablets and apps, children walk through the Elbphilharmonie with microphones, capture sound clips, and turn them into their own compositions.
The studio is part of the Elbphilharmonie building complex and serves as its space for music education, workshops, and rehearsals — the room where children get close to the venue without sitting in a concert-hall seat. Workshops are tailored by age group: for families with primary-school children, teenagers, or school classes. They usually last one to two hours and work well even without prior musical experience.
Access is through the Elbphilharmonie's entrances. HafenCity is well connected by U-Bahn, bus, and ferry lines, and the visit can easily be combined with a walk along the Elbe or into the Speicherstadt.
