Good to know
At Eisland Farmsen, children from around three or four can take their first laps on skates using aids like penguins or small supports, while more advanced skaters cruise the large 1,800-square-meter ice surface. On some days the area is split into practice and free-skate zones. On Saturday evenings from 8 to 10 pm the ice disco runs with music, light effects, and a video wall — often the highlight of the week for schoolkids and teens.
The hall is pleasantly tempered at 11 degrees, with skate rental, the Polarstation snack bar, and a sharpening service on site. The season typically runs from October to mid-April, with the rink closed in summer. Admission is family-friendly: adults pay 7 euros, children under 16 pay 4.80 euros. Kids' birthday parties run Tuesday to Sunday from midday onward in the Pavillon Arktis.
Bringing your own skates saves the rental fee. Gloves are mandatory since falls happen quickly — otherwise a warm jacket and hat are enough, as movement warms you up fast. Farmsen U-Bahn station and several bus lines are nearby.
