Good to know

At the Deichtorhallen, families can join workshops in painting, drawing, photography, and digital media, attend family tours, or work artistically themselves during the holidays. The video series Alles Richie! is aimed specifically at children and guides them through exhibitions. The Halle für aktuelle Kunst shows large installations and international contemporary art, while PHOXXI Haus der Photographie is dedicated to photography in all its forms. With the Sammlung Falckenberg there's a third exhibition venue in Harburg.

For children and teenagers, admission is usually free or heavily discounted. Weekend family tours are generally free with the exhibition ticket. Because the halls are so large, a visit works well when children need plenty of room to move.

The halls lie between the main station and the Speicherstadt, with U-Bahn and S-Bahn stations Hauptbahnhof Süd or Steinstraße just a few minutes away. The house has the restaurant Berliner Bahnhof. Strollers can be brought in without trouble, and the halls are wheelchair accessible.
