Parklet Wohltorfer Straße 30
At BUND Hamburg's events, children set off with nets and bug viewers to fish tadpoles, dragonfly larvae, and newts out of the pond, go on family tours along the Alster to get to know willows, coots, and other animals and plants, or explore protected nature reserves such as the Volksdorf Teichwiesen that are otherwise inaccessible. Many offerings are designed as a playful voyage of discovery in which knowledge is conveyed through games and activities.
BUND Hamburg is a nature conservation association that makes urban nature tangible and has tended areas such as the Teichwiesen or the nature experience garden in Wilhelmsburg's Inselpark for decades. For families, the appeal lies in the mix of guided nature experiences for children from around 4 or 5 years old and practical hands-on outdoor activities where older children and teenagers can pitch in, such as on action days along the Alster or gentle scything with a scythe.
Most offerings take place outdoors and depend on the weather; sturdy shoes and rain protection are often a good idea. Many events are free or by donation, and some tours ask for advance registration by email. Meeting points are spread across all of Hamburg.
