Good to know
At the Bücherhalle Wandsbek, families find a large children's and youth area with picture books, early-reader series, non-fiction, children's magazines, and manga, plus Tonies, audiobooks, and films. Games, multilingual titles, and the so-called Library of Things are also part of the offering. Free events run regularly: Gedichte für Wichte for toddlers under three, picture-book cinema, and read-aloud sessions for daycare and primary-school children. During the holidays there are additional workshops, quiz rounds, and reading activities.
The rooms are large, well lit, and furnished with many seating corners. Wi-Fi, workspaces, and group rooms are also used by teenagers for studying.
The location right at Wandsbeker Markt U-Bahn and S-Bahn station makes the branch easy to reach from many parts of Hamburg. For parents in the east of the city, a reliable point of contact for new books and relaxed family programming.
