Good to know
The Bücherhalle Steilshoop is in the Campus Steilshoop on Gropiusring and focuses on children's literature. It also has a Library of Things with robots, sewing machines and e-readers, as well as a seed library for swapping.
Three series for children run every week: read-aloud sessions on Thursdays from 4 to 4:45 pm, book questions on Wednesdays and book bingo with a prize on Fridays. In addition there is picture-book cinema, crafts, reading training outside school hours and STEM and robotics workshops. The Bücherhallen card costs 3 euros a year by direct debit for children up to age 8 and 6 euros for 9- to 17-year-olds, and is free with proof of the Bildungs- und Teilhabepaket (education and participation package).
With staff on site, the branch is open Tuesday to Friday from 1 to 5 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. Before and after, FlexiBib time applies until 10 pm for adults aged 18 and over with a card only. Buses 7, 26 and 218 stop at Gründgensstraße. Wi-Fi is free; printing and copying cost fees.
