Good to know

The Bücherhalle Lokstedt on Kollaustraße at Siemersplatz places importance on an up-to-date range of media for children. You can also borrow robots and a sewing machine from the Library of Things, as well as seeds from the seed library.

During the week there is a fixed rhythm: picture-book cinema at 4 pm on Tuesdays, read-aloud on Wednesdays and the creative session KreaDo on Thursdays, each from 4 to 5 pm. On Wednesdays the dog Juna comes, and on Fridays the dog Mogli, for reading promotion; children who find reading difficult read to the dogs in a relaxed way. The Bücherhallen card costs 3 euros a year for children up to age 8 and 6 euros for 9- to 17-year-olds.

The branch is staffed on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am to 7 pm, Wednesdays and Fridays until 6 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm; unstaffed FlexiBib applies only to adults with a card. The entrance is step-free and wide enough for strollers, and staff unlock the accessible toilet with changing facilities. Returns are also possible outside opening hours.
