Bücherhalle Bramfeld with kids

The Bücherhalle Bramfeld stands at the market square on Herthastraße, opposite the Haus der Jugend, and sees itself as a library for everyone. Its focus is on children's media, games, novels and audiobooks. The public areas are spread over three levels connected by an elevator.

The program includes Mario Kart tournaments on the Nintendo Switch for children aged 8 and up, a drawing hour by the Live Art Club for 6- to 14-year-olds, a Pokémon swap meet and glitter tattoos at Halloween from age 3. Picture-book cinemas and robotics workshops round out the offering, and admission is mostly free; the epoxy resin workshop for children aged 7 and up has a materials fee of 12 euros. To borrow items you need a Bücherhallen card, which costs 3 euros a year for children up to age 8.

With staff on site, the branch is open Tuesdays from 10 am to 7 pm, Wednesday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm; FlexiBib hours are suspended until further notice. An accessible toilet with changing facilities is available. Getting there: buses 8, 17 and 18 to Herthastraße. Because of construction work the building is currently closed; on-site events are announced again from October 10, 2026.
