Good to know
At Bücherhalle Bergedorf, families will find a generous children's and teen area sorted by age group: picture books, early readers, children's novels, comics, manga, nonfiction and audio dramas with Tonie and CD lending. There are also games, magazines and a small selection of foreign-language children's books. Regular story-time offerings, picture-book cinema and themed activities take place, for example around National Read-Aloud Day or during school holidays.
For many families in eastern Hamburg, Bergedorf is the main library where children get their own library card for the first time. It's free until age 18. Daycare groups and school classes can book guided tours that explore the library in a playful way.
The branch is located right in the heart of Bergedorf, just a few minutes from the S-Bahn station. A cozy corner for little ones, reading spots and plenty of room to browse make it a good destination for a rainy afternoon.
