Good to know
At the Bucerius Kunst Forum, families can attend children's tours, family Sundays, holiday workshops, and school-class formats tied to the three to four major special exhibitions held each year. The programs are usually aimed at primary-school children and older, with some formats also suited to kindergarten age. Children approach the works with pen, stories, and their own questions, with no prior knowledge of art history required.
For parents, the venue is worthwhile because only a few exhibitions run each year, allowing time to engage with each one properly. The range spans Old Masters and Classical Modernism through photography to contemporary art, usually with a clear thematic focus. Admission is free for children and teenagers under 18.
The forum is located at Alter Wall in the heart of the city center; the Kunstmeile Hamburg also includes the Kunsthalle and Deichtorhallen. Open Thursdays until 9 pm, step-free access, and strollers are welcome.
