At the Flohschanze flea market, families can browse stalls of secondhand goods, vintage clothing, records, furniture, books and curiosities every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Kids can pick out toys, books or clothes themselves with a small budget and practice their haggling skills.
Part of the market is covered, so the flea market goes ahead even in bad weather, taking on a warehouse feel in the halls. The listed brick site of the old cattle slaughterhouse (Alter Rinderschlachthof) between St. Pauli and Sternschanze brings its own history, sounds and atmosphere. Nearby cafes and bakeries in Sternschanze offer coffee, waffles and brunch for a break.
Transit links are excellent: U3 Feldstraße is just a few minutes away. Parking in the area is difficult, so public transit is the best choice.
